Please note that I have another laptop with Win XP Pro and I can download DV video from the same camcorder with a 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable. I get the same error whether I am importing HDV or DV. When I try to download video I get the error mentioned above. I can control the camera using the import video window in movie maker once it is connected(Stop, play, fast forward etc). However, Windows does recognize that a camcorder is attached but does not call it Canon. This error comes when using movie maker or "import video". Verify that the digital video tape is not blank, and then try again."
